Latest advice from DEFRA regarding Organic Certificates of Inspection (CoI)

Scenario Actions to take
EU COI issued on or before 31/12/2020 – E-seal used (green padlock) 1.    Issuing control body to email a PDF of the electronically signed (E-seal used) EU COI to the importer.

2.    The importer to forward the email chain and attached PDF EU COI to the receiving Port.

3.    Receiving Port to process the EU COI by updating the printed PDF only as access to TRACES NT has now been removed.

4.    Fully completed paper COI is held by the importer.

 

EU COI issued on or before 31/12/2020 – printed & signed original 1.    Receiving Port to process the EU COI by updating the printed original only as access to TRACES NT has now been removed.

2.    Fully completed paper COI is held by the importer.

EU COI issued on or after 01/01/2021 The COI is not valid for imports into GB.  Please request the EU COI be cancelled on TRACES NT and a GB COI issued.

 

Please note that if an original CoI has been issued Port Health will require this in order to sign and stamp the CoI as proof that the product can be marketed as ‘organic’.
