TRANSITION OF CHED-Ds FROM TRACES-NT TO IPAFFS

The transition of CHED-Ds from TRACES-NT to IPAFFS has been delayed until 14th December 2020 (it was initially due on 7th December 2020).

From 14th December the notification of imports of certain high-risk food and feed not of animal origin into GB must be made on the UK’s IPAFFS system.

Accessing IPAFFS

To access IPAFFS, go to:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/import-of-products-animals-food-and-feed-system

Then click ‘Start Now’ to get to the login page. If you have not registered on the system before then click on ‘Create sign in details’ to start the process.

Submission of IPAFFS CHED-Ds to Felixstowe BCP

Please note the following if submitting CHED-Ds to Felixstowe BCP. We need you to follow this advice to ensure a smooth transition in the BCP from TRACES-NT to IPAFFS.

Which system to use

Please do not complete the CHED-D on both systems. This is difficult for us to handle internally and will lead to delays in processing and releasing your consignment. Therefore, if you do submit documents on both systems and these are dated before 14th December you will be contacted to ask which one you want us to use. We will then process and check that document only.

For CHED-Ds dated 14th December onwards, we will only process these if they have been produced on IPAFFS.

ALVS clearance

If your CHED-D is dated before 14th December create it on TRACES-NT and make sure your Customs entry matches the number of the TRACES-NT CHED-D you submitted to us to enable automatic clearance as at present.

If your CHED-D is dated 14th December onwards create it on IPAFFS and make sure your Customs entry matches the number of the IPAFFS CHED-D you submitted to us to enable automatic clearance as at present.

Agent company name

For CHED-Ds created on IPAFFS you must write your company name on the printed CHED-D in box I.8. Unfortunately box I.8 ‘Operator responsible for the consignment’ shows only the personal name of the person completing the CHED-D and the address but not the company name. Without the company name we cannot process the CHED-D.

Printing

You must print the CHED-D double-sided so that each sheet of paper is signed.

Who to contact

IPAFFS is a DEFRA system and we do not have access to add or amend exporter, importer, delivery address on the system or to do with access or login enquiries. All such enquiries must be directed to the APHA helpdesk APHAServiceDesk@apha.gov.uk
