Edge Worldwide Logistics praises port health cooperation with the Port of Felixstowe
Five high-profile representatives from Edge Worldwide Logistics were impressed with Suffolk Coastal Port Health Authority’s (SCPHA) seamless health checks in cooperation with the Port of Felixstowe during a behind-the-scenes tour.
Ashley Rossbottom, Reefer General Manager; Laura Ruocco, Training Manager; Kirsty Harvey, Import GP Supervisor; and Michelle Durrant and Joe Law, Import Reefer Team Leads, saw first-hand how SCPHA and the Port of Felixstowe work together to ensure essential import controls are carried out efficiently in the interest of public and animal health.
Ashley said: “It’s been a really fantastic day. Really insightful, really enjoyable. I’m going back with a lot of information to discuss with our importers and customers.
“Post-Covid, we have always wanted to make an appointment with the Port of Felixstowe and tie it in with port health. It’s great to see their workings and how they do things.”

After travelling down from Manchester and exploring the Port of Felixstowe, the group enjoyed a guided tour through the cold storage facilities, where they were able to see health checks being carried out by SCPHA on sea bass imported from Turkey.
Ashley said: “It’s uncommon to go behind the scenes and get a back-office view of it. It was a learning experience for us as well as a meet-and-greet to put names to faces.”
