NEW CERTIFICATES REQUIRED FOR IMPORTS OF POULTRY MEAT PRODUCT IMPORTS FROM CHINA AND THAILAND TO GREAT BRITAIN STARTING 2ND DECEMBER 2024

New certificates for poultry meat products from China and Thailand

New certificates are required for poultry meat products from China and Thailand for consignments arriving 2nd December 2024 onwards. Please note this date refers to the date of arrival, not the date of signature, so certificates in accordance with the new models will need to be issued very shortly given the voyage time.

China:
The new model certificate for poultry meat products from China is published by DEFRA at GBHC901_MPST-CN_v0.5_August.pdf (publishing.service.gov.uk)

Thailand:
The new model certificate for poultry meat products from Thailand which require treatment A (the current requirement) is published by DEFRA at GBHC902_MPNT-TH_v0.5_August.pdf (publishing.service.gov.uk).

If the disease status of Thailand changes in the future such that poultry meat products that are required to undergo a treatment other than A, then this certificate would be required instead: GBHC903_MPST-TH_v0.5_August.pdf (publishing.service.gov.uk)

You can find the required letter code in the latest third country list published by DEFRA for meat products here: Meat+Products.pdf.

You will see that currently the letter code for Thailand under the heading ‘1. Poultry..’ is ‘A’ whereas for China region CN-1 it is ‘D’.

The meaning of the letter codes is given at the end of that document

Other countries:
The required certificate for poultry meat products from other countries is unchanged.

Animal health attestation II.2.5
It is for the certifying vet in the third country to complete the certificates correctly in accordance with the notes on pages 4 and 5 of the certificate.

Regarding health attestation II.2.5, in accordance with the notes for completion, “this guarantee is required only when Northern Ireland has been granted the status free from infection with Newcastle disease virus without vaccination in accordance with Delegated Regulation (EU) 2020/689”. Currently Northern Ireland does not have that status and therefore health attestation II.2.5 should be deleted.
