Consignments listed in the tables below arriving at Port from 18th December 2024 are subject to the relevant CHED-D controls.
The products listed on this page have all been identified as a risk (high risk food and feed on non-animal origin, HRFNAO). Additional import controls are required at the border.
All of these products are required to be accompanied by a CHED-D and often other documentation such as health certification and the results of sampling and analysis. Read more about the import controls here.
If a product is listed in Annex II of assimilated Regulation 2019/1793 (as amended from 18th December 2024 by SI 2024 No.1169) it will require a health certificate and the results of sampling and analysis. The format of the health certificate for Annex II products being imported into Great Britain can be found here: High risk food and feed not of animal origin (HRFNAO): model health certificates – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk). It is the document titled “Certain food or feed GBHC176”.
If a product is subject to Chernobyl radiation controls under assimilated Regulation 2020/1158 (first section in the table on this page) it will require a health certificate and the results of sampling and analysis. It is the document titled “Food and Feed originating in third countries following the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power station GBHC208X”.
Rice and certain rice products from China are subject to GMO controls under assimilated Commission Implementing Decision 2011/884/EU as amended by assimilated 2013/287/EU. These will require a health certificate and the results of sampling and analysis. It is the document titled “Chinese rice GMO GBHC212X’.
In many cases it is not just the raw material that is covered – some processed and compound products containing the controlled product(s) are also covered by import conditions. Please refer to Annexes I and II of assimilated Regulation 2019/1793 (as amended from 18th December 2024 by SI 2024 No.1169) .
Advice from the Food Standards Agency is that the controls apply on the products imported regardless of the CN code used for tariff purposes. The risk to public health is dependent on the level of any contaminants present in the product, and this does not change with different CN codes.
