DEFRA’s most recent communication advises that IUU fishing documentation (including catch certificates, processing statements, and evidence of storage) must be submitted in advance for all relevant imports to the Port Health Authority. Starting from 30^th April 2024, these documents must be uploaded to IPAFFs, with specific details required for each catch certificate.

 It's worth noting that some Port Health Authorities and Local Authorities may require additional uploads to their Port Health Interactive Live Information System (PHILIS). Importers are encouraged to contact the PHA to determine the necessary lead time for document submission, with minimum timings outlined in legislation.

Separately, IUU risk-based checks remain distinct from SPS inspections. Operations will continue as usual from 30^th April 2024, and importers are reminded to notify the PHA of IUU consignments via PHILIS, with advance notice of consignment arrival requested two working hours prior to arrival.
