Groundnuts from Gambia and Sudan - change to import requirements from 18th June 2019
Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/890 comes into force on 18th June 2019. This imposes additional special conditions on the import of groundnuts from Gambia and Sudan. Imports of groundnuts from Gambia and Sudan are already subject to an increased level of official controls as regards the presence of aflatoxins under Commission Regulation (EC) No 669/2009. They will now be controlled under Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 884/2014. From 18th June 2019 all imports of groundnuts from Gambia and Sudan should be accompanied by a health certificate stating that the products have been sampled and analysed for the presence of aflatoxins and found to be compliant with EU legislation. The results of the sampling and analysis should be attached to the accompanying health certificate. The health certificate and analysis report should be submitted to Port Health with the CED (common entry document) and copies of commercial documents (bill of lading, invoice, packing list).
